I’m driving back from Vegas, thinking back to all the women I saw struggling in heels this weekend. And it made me even more impressed with Venita. Venita and Art are the couple we photographed in Malibu for their pre-wedding shoot. She was so dainty and pretty in the heels, and such a trooper about it too!
The last time I was so impressed by someone in heels was when I was watching Beyoncé at the VMAs a few years back; and thinking, how are you dancing like that, and singing, and walking like that... wearing stilettos? Venita was walking with such ease and poise through dirt paths and flower fields… with strappy black high-heeled sandals. ✊🏻RESPECT from Birkenstocks-Arax.
This shoot was so effortless, it just moved along so smoothly and beautifully. Art and Venita are really, really, really into each other, and it’s so cute. It’s not just cute - it also is very helpful because it’s easy to photograph. “It’s so much easier when they like each other”. I think what he means is that when the couple is naturally affectionate and interactive with each other, it’s so easy to photograph them because you don’t even need to pose them. They instinctively lean in to one another, flirt without being directed to, and even kiss in between takes. So if you’ve been married for 8 years, and your spouse is 2 couches away… go cuddle a little, like you used to when you guys just met. Here are some photos of Art and Venita to inspire you.
We started off at Malibu Market - a nice little village of shops and restaurants. This is a nice location to get some non-nature photos before heading into the meadows. This is also where we brought our kids last last Christmas for pictures with Santa. I remember that day because Roman saw his idol Bill Simmons, and could have given him his parking spot but didn’t. That’s just the kind of guy he is.
